PLANT CITY, Fla. – Motorists traveling on State Road 60 in Plant City should prepare for a significant temporary traffic pattern change beginning at 9 p.m. this Friday, June 5.
The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) contractor will implement a new configuration on SR 60 stretching from west of SR 39 to west of Clarence Gordon Jr. Road.
The upcoming traffic pattern will shift all traffic to the south side of SR 60, resulting in reduced travel lanes in both directions. Additionally, U-turn movements will be temporarily restricted within the affected construction zone. This phase of construction is anticipated to last for approximately six weeks, though the duration is subject to weather conditions.

Drivers are advised to anticipate traffic delays and potential congestion during this period. FDOT assures the public that access to local businesses, residents, and emergency services will be maintained throughout the project. The department urges all motorists to slow down, remain alert, and drive safely when navigating the work zone.
These temporary changes are part of a larger improvement project on SR 60. The scope of work includes repaving the segment from SR 39 to Clarence Gordon Jr. Road, as well as replacing the asphalt pavement with durable concrete at the intersection of SR 39 in Hillsborough County.
Furthermore, FDOT is modifying median openings on SR 60 both east and west of SR 39. These median closures are designed to enhance safety and improve overall traffic flow along this busy corridor.
