President Donald Trump announced Thursday a significant phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasizing progress on a recently established trade deal and signaling future high-level meetings between the two nations.

In a post on his social media platform, TRUTH Social, Trump described the conversation as “very good” and lasting “approximately one and a half hours,” resulting in a “very positive conclusion for both Countries.” The primary focus of the discussion, according to Trump, was “almost entirely on TRADE.”

A key takeaway from Trump’s statement was the resolution of “any questions respecting the complexity of Rare Earth products.” While details on this specific aspect of the trade deal were not immediately provided, the assertion suggests a significant development in this critical sector.

Looking ahead, Trump revealed that “respective teams will be meeting shortly at a location to be determined.” He named the U.S. representatives for these upcoming discussions as Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer.

During the call, President Xi reportedly extended an invitation for the First Lady and Trump to visit China, an invitation Trump stated he reciprocated. “As Presidents of two Great Nations, this is something that we both look forward to doing,” Trump wrote, hinting at potential future diplomatic exchanges.

Notably, Trump stated that the conversation did not touch upon “Russia/Ukraine, or Iran.”

The announcement comes amidst ongoing global economic complexities and will likely be met with keen interest from international markets and diplomatic circles as details of the “recently made, and agreed to, Trade Deal” and the upcoming meetings emerge.

Trump concluded stating that the media would be informed as to the scheduling and location of the soon-to-be meeting.
