LARGO, Fla. – Two people were killed and several others sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Largo. The collision occurred around 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Orangeview Drive and Ridge Road.
According to preliminary information from the Largo Police Department, a southbound Durango collided with a Kia Soul that was attempting to make a left turn.
The impact resulted in the deaths of two people. Several other occupants from the vehicles were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Authorities have shut down Ridge Road between Ulmerton Road and 8th Avenue North, asking motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes for several hours as the investigation continues.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
The Largo Police Traffic Homicide Unit is on the scene and conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. No further information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
