MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Two Miami men were arrested late Saturday night following an altercation at a fast-food restaurant in Key Largo.

The incident occurred at the Key Largo Wendy’s at approximately 11:37 p.m. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, deputies found a group fighting in the restaurant’s parking lot.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, two suspects fled the scene on foot but were apprehended by deputies shortly thereafter. Kriss Bernabeu, 20, and Jonathan Fajardo, 18, both of Miami, appeared to be intoxicated at the time of their arrest, deputies say.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the altercation began when Bernabeu and Fajardo, who were standing in the drive-through lane because the restaurant’s dining room was closed, got into an argument with occupants of a vehicle also waiting in the drive-through.

During the confrontation, witnesses told deputies that both suspects “picked up sticks” as weapons.

Bernabeu and Fajardo were arrested and subsequently charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
