POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Polk County man accused of burglarizing a local charity organization found himself in custody shortly after the crime, thanks to an observant witness and an unusual confession, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, around 1:15 AM, at a charity located in the Wahneta area. Officials reported that a witness saw an individual unlawfully entering the organization’s structure and removing property. The witness quickly reported the activity.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives launched an investigation into the burglary and theft. During the course of the investigation, a detective identified 40-year-old Clinton Dale Dean, Jr. as the suspect.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the detective didn’t need to actively search for the suspect. The Sheriff’s Office stated that Mr. Dean approached the investigating detective himself to discuss the incident. During that conversation, Dean allegedly admitted to committing the burglary and theft at the charity.

Following his admission, Clinton Dale Dean, Jr. was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Polk County Jail and has been charged with Burglary and Felony Petit Theft.
