TAMPA, Fla. – Emergency crews from the City of Tampa are actively working to contain and repair a wastewater overflow into the Hillsborough River that occurred today in the south Seminole Heights neighborhood.
The incident originated at the Louisiana Pumping Station, located at Rivercrest Park. Officials have identified a pipe clog of currently undetermined origin as the apparent cause of the overflow.
City personnel were promptly dispatched to the scene and have been working to clear the blockage. In addition, a contractor has been engaged to install a portable bypass system to circumvent the affected pumping station. This bypass is anticipated to be operational by midnight tonight.
