Border Czar Tom Homan unapologetically declared Tuesday that the prosecution of a Democratic congresswoman has proceeded despite threats from prominent left-wing lawmakers, effectively daring them to follow through on their warnings.
Speaking with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Homan addressed what he characterized as the left’s “caterwauling” over the charges filed against New Jersey Representative LaMonica McIver.
McIver faces charges of “assaulting, impeding, and interfering with law enforcement” stemming from an incident where she and other lawmakers visited an ICE facility. The lawmakers reportedly intended to serve a summons related to alleged code violations, but were instead met by federal agents.

McIver is accused of attempting to interfere in the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka during the encounter.
Homan specifically called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her prior pronouncements.
“Well, remember, just a couple weeks ago AOC went on social media saying if we put a finger on any of her co-workers, uh, congresspeople, that were at our York facility, there would be consequences,” Homan stated. “Well, guess what? We did it. I’m waiting on the consequences.”
Ocasio-Cortez had previously issued a stern warning in an Instagram video, stating, “If anyone’s breaking the law in this situation, it’s not members of Congress, it’s the Department of Homeland Security. It’s people like Tom Homan…” She added, “You lay a finger on someone… or any of the representatives that were there, you lay a finger on them, we are going to have a problem.”
Homan has robustly defended ICE’s mission and has frequently clashed with Ocasio-Cortez, particularly regarding her efforts to advise immigrants on their legal rights, which Homan has described as coaching them to evade arrest.
The challenge from Homan also implicitly extends to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who had previously stated regarding the targeting of Democratic lawmakers, “It’s a red line. They know better than to go down that road.”
Despite these strong words from Democratic leadership, no public action has been taken in response to the charges against Rep. McIver.
While some Democrats, such as New York Representative Dan Goldman, have attempted to discredit the prosecution, labeling the initial charging document as “embarrassing,” proponents of enforcing the law maintain that no one should be above scrutiny.

Homan’s comments underscore a belief that members of Congress are not immune from facing legal consequences for their actions, especially when it involves alleged interference with federal law enforcement officers carrying out their duties.
The silence from Ocasio-Cortez and Jeffries since the charges were filed has been noted by conservatives as indicative of empty rhetoric.
