Avon Park Wildfire Smoke May Affect River Ranch, Indian Lake Estates; Caution Advised On Highways

HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. – Residents in the River Ranch and Indian Lake Estates communities are advised that smoke from a wildfire on the Avon Park Bombing Range may impact their areas.

The Florida Forest Service in Lakeland has indicated that Avon Park Fire will conduct a burnout operation in connection with the fire.

Currently, no structures are reported to be threatened by the wildfire.

However, motorists traveling along Highway 60 and State Road 630 in the vicinity of the affected area are urged to exercise caution due to the potential for reduced visibility caused by smoke.

Drivers should slow down and be prepared for changing conditions on the roadways.
