ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Betsy Strickland, a resilient Zephyrhills resident, is bravely confronting the challenges of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) breast cancer and is reaching out to the community for support as she navigates a difficult treatment journey.
Diagnosed in December 2024, Betsy began chemotherapy in January of this year. However, her body did not respond favorably to the initial regimen, necessitating a modification to her treatment plan in hopes of better tolerance.
Despite these adjustments, Betsy has been experiencing severe and debilitating side effects, most notably painful sores and blisters on her feet. These complications have made even simple daily activities, such as walking and wearing shoes, incredibly challenging and painful.

The physical toll of her treatment has unfortunately extended to her professional life. Due to her condition and the side effects of therapy, Betsy has had to significantly reduce her work hours, adding a considerable financial burden to an already stressful situation. While her insurance provides support, the co-pays for her ongoing medical care are substantial, creating a significant strain on her resources.
To alleviate these mounting financial pressures and ensure she can continue to receive necessary treatment, Betsy has launched a fundraiser on AngeLink. The funds raised will directly contribute to covering her essential medical co-payments and related expenses.
Betsy’s story is a poignant reminder of the personal battles individuals face when battling serious illnesses. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which Betsy is battling, accounts for nearly 8 out of 10 breast cancer diagnoses in the U.S., underscoring the widespread impact of this disease.
