LARGO, Fla. – One person was rushed to the hospital Tuesday after a crash at a Largo intersection. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 8:43 AM, the Largo Police Department, with members of the Traffic Homicide Unit, responded to the intersection of 130th Ave N and 113th St N for a two-vehicle crash.

A burgundy Nissan Altima, which was southbound in the turn lane on 113th St N to continue east on 130th Ave N, struck a BMW 535i that was traveling northbound with the right of way on 113th St N.

“The driver of the Nissan was determined to be the at-fault driver of this crash, as they did not yield to the BMW when they made their eastbound turn onto 130th Ave N,” said Largo Police Department.

The driver of the BMW had minor injuries and signed a medical refusal at the crash scene.

Police say the driver of the Nissan sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.  The driver of the Nissan did not appear to have been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor, and there are currently no pending criminal charges.
