A 19-year-old Florida man has been arrested after being clocked going 116 mph on a motorcycle he didn’t have a license for.
On August 29, a deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Highway 2 near the intersection of Highway 177A after clocking a motorcycle at 116 mph.
When the deputy activated his lights and sirens, the driver of the motorcycle, later identified as 19-year-old Christian Mitchem of Westville, refused to pull over.
The pursuit continued westbound before turning south onto Highway 179A.

Mitchem eventually lost control of the motorcycle at the intersection of Highway 179A and Mount Ida Rd.
Mitchem told deputies he refused to stop because he had a warrant out of Walton County and did not have a motorcycle endorsement.
He was transported by EMS to Doctors Memorial Hospital, where he was medically cleared and taken to the Holmes County Jail.
Christian Mitchem was charged with operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement, fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, attaching a tag not assigned to the vehicle, and reckless driving.
