Two Florida were arrested for wildlife violations in separate incidents Sunday, according to investigators.

A 53-year-old Miami, Florida man was arrested Sunday at approximately 11 a.m. near North Sound Creek off Key Largo for possessing over-the-limit lobster and undersized lobster.

Upper Keys Deputy Jason Farr, from Moroe County Sheriff’s Office, was on water patrol when he stopped a 25-foot Bayliner boat operated by Alejandro Acevedo.

Fifteen lobsters were found on the vessel, nine of which were undersized. Acevedo was taken to Monroe County Jail.

In a separate incident, a 57-year-old Hollywood, Florida man was arrested at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bahia Honda Key Bridge for possessing queen conch and undersized lobster.

Lower Keys Deputy Jacob Ladd was conducting resource checks on the south end of the bridge when he observed a man, later identified as Jose Manuel Mejia Melo, drop a bucket near the seawall while attempting to walk away.

There were three queen conch and four undersized lobsters in the bucket.

Mejia Melo was taken to jail and also cited for harvesting/snorkeling with 300 feet of a residential or commercial shoreline as well as having no fishing license or lobster endorsement.
