A small plane crashed Sunday killing two people according to investigators.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) said two people died after a single-engine aircraft crashed into a field near Herlong Recreational Airport on the westside of Jacksonville.

According to JSO, the aircraft took off from Herlong Recreational Airport at 10:40 am Sunday and was in the air for approximately 20 minutes before it crashed into a field at approximately 11:06 a.m., according to investigators.

According to the JCSO, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, with JSO.

Investigators are working to identify the two victims in the crash.
