20-Year-Old Dover Man Killed Saturday Night in Crash

DOVER, Fla. – A 20-year-old Dover man, was killed in a car accident Saturday night on SR-574.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by a 20-year-old man was traveling westbound on SR-574, west of Dover Road. Another SUV driven by a 49-year-old woman from Dover was traveling eastbound. An uninvolved vehicle ahead of the man’s SUV slowed to turn and enter a local business. The 20-year-old steered left into the eastbound lane to travel around the turning vehicle and lost control of his SUV, which began to rotate. The Dover woman observed the actions of the man’s SUV, slowed, and steered to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision. Unsuccessful, the left side of the man’s SUV collided with the front of the woman’s SUV, then the man’s SUV overturned to final rest in the center of the roadway.

The Dover woman’s SUV came to final rest along the south shoulder and roadway edge. Transported to an area hospital, a passenger within the man’s overturned SUV, a 20-year-old male from Dover, later died from injuries sustained during the crash. Both drivers and other passengers in the vehicles sustained minor injuries.
