PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Time is ticking toward the 2024 Valspar Championship. Confirmation of such can be seen on the home page of the tournament’s site, which will reveal it is inside of two months until the festivities get underway at Innisbrook on March 18.

While the countdown clock continues to shrink, the field that will take to the Copperhead Course continues to grow. In fact, last week a trio of players currently ranked in the top 11 of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) committed to make their way to Palm Harbor: Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Tommy Fleetwood.

The 30-year-old Schauffele will be making his second appearance at the Valspar, having tied for 12th in 2022. The PGA Tour’s Rookie of the Year in 2017 is fifth in the OWGR. His seven Tour wins include the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a team event with fellow California native Cantlay as his playing partner.

Cantlay, who turns 32 on March 17, is sixth in the OWGR. He finished second as a sponsor’s exemption at the 2017 Valspar and has since compiled a resume highlighted by eight Tour victories. Cantlay and Schauffele have also been playing partners for Team USA at the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. Schauffele holed the winning putt in the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Fleetwood is No. 11 in the OWGR. The 32-year-old native of England finished third at the Valspar last year and tied for 16th in 2022. He has 22 top-five finishes on the Tour, though he is seeking his initial first-place finish. He has been victorious seven times on the PGA’s European circuit.

It was also announced last week that 26-year-old Cameron Young, who has risen to 25th in the OWGR, and 21-year-old lefty Akshay Bhatia joined the field. Young will be making his Valspar debut while Bhatia made his debut as a pro at the 2019 event.

The deadline for commitments is March 15. Last year’s Valspar champ, Taylor Moore, will be out to defend his first Tour title.

Tickets for the 2024 Valspar, which will feature a concert starring Cole Swindell on Saturday, March 23, are on sale at ValsparChampionship.com.
