24-Year-Old Tampa Man Killed In Crash After Running Stop Sign Overnight

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – A 24-year-old Tampa was killed overnight after running a stop sign and being hit by a pickup truck.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Tampa man was driving a 2010 Honda Fit northbound on Jackson Road approaching US-301.

Troopers say at the intersection, the Tampa man failed to stop or remain at the posted stop sign, entered the path of a pickup truck, and was subsequently struck by the 2020 Ford F250 along the left side of the vehicle.

After the impact, both vehicles rotated and stopped on the adjacent shoulder of the roadway, according to FHP.

The Tampa man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Troopers say the crash happened just after midnight.
