HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Mario Charles Gonzalez, 41, from Plant City has been arrested and charged with DUI Manslaughter after a crash claimed the life of a Wesley Chapel woman.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer, traveling northbound on the I-75 frontage road near the Rt. 60 exit ramp slowed to a stop for traffic.
A pickup truck driven by Gonzalez, 41, saw the stopped traffic and swerved to avoid a collision.
Troopers say the pickup truck departed the roadway, entered the outside shoulder, rotated, traveled back onto the roadway, and collided with the right side of the tractor-trailer.
The pickup truck was redirected and overturned onto the shoulder, and the Wesley Chapel woman was ejected from the vehicle.
The woman was transported to a local hospital but died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Gonzalez was arrested and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
