3 Killed And 3 Wounded In Murder-Suicide Near Florida Air Force Base

Three people were killed and three others were injured in a murder-suicide at an apartment complex near a Florida Air Force base, Miami-Dade police said Monday.

The shooting appears to be domestic-related according to police.

The shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. inside an apartment complex in the area of Southwest 126th Court and 282nd Street, near the Homestead Air Reserve Base.

A 38-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were found dead inside a home, Miami-Dade police PIO Angel Rodriguez said.

Police say that two juveniles were airlifted to the hospital, one in stable condition and one in critical condition.

The suspect, a 42-year-old gunman shot himself while officers were attempting to negotiate with him, Rodriguez said.

Investigators say the man was the boyfriend of the woman killed.

“Our homicide detectives have a very difficult task ahead of them,” said Rodriguez. “This is an investigation that is going to take time. Whenever we have juveniles that are not only injured but killed, it affects us all as a community.”
