PINELLAS COUNTY - A 78-year-old man has died after being struck by a car while crossing Tampa Road in Oldsmar overnight.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 78-year-old man has died after being struck by a car while crossing Tampa Road in Oldsmar overnight.

Investigators say on Saturday at approximately 11:52 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Tampa Road and Burbank Road in the City of Oldsmar for a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

According to investigators, 68-year-old Pascalia Mbetera was driving eastbound on Tampa Road in the center lane, in a 2002 Toyota Camry.

The pedestrian, 78-year-old Frank Adams was crossing Tampa Road from north to south at the intersection of Burbank Road, not in a crosswalk.

Deputies say Adams was using a roller walker to assist him in crossing the road and was struck in the eastbound lanes of Tampa Road by the Toyota Camry.

Adams was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Speed and impairment are not factors in the crash.
