TAMPA, FL. – Just after 8 p.m., Thursday, a shooting occurred at 30th Ave. and 54th St. N. Police say the incident started as a fight between two groups in the Grant Park area, and gunfire was exchanged.
A 9-year-old child was struck by a stray round, according to investigators.
Police say the child was conscious and breathing when taken to a nearby hospital on Thursday night.
Detectives have identified several persons of interest in the shooting and have reported that the 9-year-old child is in stable condition.
“We are asking any witnesses with any information to come forward,” said Tampa Police in a statement.
