CLEARWATER, FL.- Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a crash with serious injuries late Sunday morning.
The call came in at 11:34 a.m. from Sunset Point Road and Hercules Avenue and involved a vehicle and a bicycle.
The bicyclist was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa as a trauma alert with possible life-threatening injuries.
The bicyclist has been identified as Thomas Larkin, 57, of Clearwater. He remains in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital this morning.
Witnesses told officers he was weaving in and out of traffic before he rode into the passenger side of a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. After that collision, he fell and hit his head on the curb.
The crash occurred in the westbound lanes east of the intersection while the investigation was underway.
