Two Escaped Zebras In Maryland Caught After 4 Months On The Run

Two zebras running loose for the last four months in Maryland have been captured. The pair escaped from an Upper Marlboro farm where officials have said about 40 zebras live.

Sightings of the animals caused a stir in the surrounding areas as locals tried to get the zebras on camera. “There’s a buzz.

A lot of people are talking about it,” Rodney Taylor, the chief of the Prince George’s County Animal Services Division told NBC News in September.

Prince George’s County Animal Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture weren’t involved in the capture but were told Monday that the animals returned to their herd last week, The Washington Post reported.

The duo was originally a trio, but one got caught in an illegal snare trap on a neighboring property and died soon after the breakout.

PG county filed animal cruelty charges against owner Jerry Holly in October after another zebra was found dead inside the farm’s enclosure.
