Former President Donald Trump’s quest for a second term may get a big boost today from voters in Iowa. Trump headed into today’s Republican caucuses holding a 34-point lead over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
At the moment he also is a solid bet to defeat President Joe Biden, with current polls showing Trump leading the incumbent nationally and in several key swing states.
The Deep State apparently is also eyeing those numbers, and seemingly preparing for Trump’s return to the White House — and not in a good way.

The financial website Zerohedge.com highlighted an NBC News story from Sunday that revealed “a loose-knit network of public interest groups and lawmakers is quietly devising plans to try to foil any efforts [by Trump] to expand presidential power.”
Quoted in the piece was Mary McCord, identified as the executive director of the Institution for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at Georgetown University Law School.
Prior to her current gig, McCord was a high-ranking figure in the Justice Department under former President Barack Obama.
Zerohedge also noted that she figured prominently in taking down Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser, and helped left-wing Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff facilitate the claims of the whistleblower involved in Trump’s first impeachment over his call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“McCord is back with a new hoax to peddle, telling NBC News that the Deep State is preparing for Trump’s return – and is taking action to limit his ability to ‘become a dictator’ and use the military to those ends,” Zerohedge noted.

The new hoax is that Trump would unleash the military on the public through the Insurrection Act.
Zerohedge noted NBC was peddling this by airing claims that Trump represents a “clear and present danger to our democracy,” and that we face “an array of horrors that could result from Donald Trump’s unrestricted use of the Insurrection Act.”
NBC also quoted William Cohen, a one-time Republican senator from Maine who served as defense secretary for former President Bill Clinton. Cohen asserted that with Trump so close to regaining the levers of power, “We’re about 30 seconds away from the Armageddon clock when it comes to democracy.”
NBC also quoted Skye Perryman, president of a radical leftist group called Democracy Forward, who said the organization is “preparing for litigation and preparing to use every tool in the toolbox that our democracy provides to provide the American people an ability to fight back.”
Zerohedge noted that as Trump’s enemies are preparing another Russia-collusion-like smear, the Deep State forgot its cardinal tenet: “Remember, the first rule of ‘Deep State’ is you do not talk about ‘Deep State.’”
