Following the search warrant executed by the FBI on Monday at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, leaders from across the country spoke out.

Attorney Says FBI Is ‘Tainted’ For Targeting Trump

An attorney for former President Donald Trump lambasted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during a Thursday night Fox News appearance, saying it was “tainted.”

“This is the Russia hoax team,” Alina Habba told Fox News host Sean Hannity during a panel discussion. “This is the same people that are involved there. Strzok, Lisa Page, all these individuals have tainted the FBI and these are the same individuals that have been going after Donald Trump since the day he came down that escalator.”

FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate owned by former President Trump, on Aug. 8, as part of an investigation into materials allegedly taken from the White House when Trump left office in January 2021. Republicans and conservatives criticized the raid as an “abuse of power,” vowing to look into the Justice Department’s handling of the matter.

Another member of the panel voiced skepticism of the Justice Department.

“My big beef with the Justice Department’s behavior today in court was the fact that they made the claim that their investigation was in the early stages and that they feared that if they did not redact, that their witnesses or their confidential informants might be exposed,” Geraldo Rivera said. “Now, they said it was in the early stages. My question is, if indeed the investigation is in the early stages, then how in the world did they get a search warrant that there was probable cause that a crime had been committed and justifying this extraordinary raid.”

“For the first time in American history, an American president’s residence, a former president’s residence, in this unprecedented act, was invaded by 30 FBI agents,” Rivera continued. “So, it is either in the early stages or they had probable cause and a crime was committed. It seems to me that you can’t have both.”
