Trump Biden Shower

Biden Administration Moves To Undo Trump Rule On Shower Water Flow

Think again if you don’t believe liberals want to control every aspect of your life – even in the shower.

Reason magazine reports that President Joe Biden’s Energy Department – whose leader recently suggested that the Surfside high-rise collapse was possibly caused by global warming – has reinstated rules repealed by former President Donald Trump regarding the volume of water flow out of showerheads.

Back in 1992, under President George H.W. Bush, the federal government mandated that showerheads could pump no more than 2.5 gallons of water a minute.

The Obama administration, according to Reason, changed the rule in 2011 and 2013 to ban whole shower “units” that delivered more than that amount. Until then, it was possible to have more than one showerhead so long as each one met the 2.5-per-gallon max.

Trump had long griped about the regulation, even to his days as a developer, but as president was not able to push through a change until December.

As one example of his concerns, according to Reuters, Trump complained about the showerhead rule at a White House gathering last July. “So showerheads – you take a shower, the water doesn’t come out. You want to wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer or do you take a shower longer? Because my hair – I don’t know about you – but it has to be perfect. Perfect,” Trump said at the time.

As was often the case with the billionaire builder in the Oval Office, Trump delivered freedom. “Americans can choose products that are best suited to meet their individual needs and the needs of their families,” Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette said when the rule was repealed in December.

Yet the Biden administration, responding to the flow of tears from environmentalists, now seeks to rein in your water flow.

Reason noted that some manufacturers also weren’t happy with Trump either. That’s because they had spent considerable time and money to retool to meet the Obama-era regulation, and now worried about rising foreign competition.

Speaking of the change, a Biden Energy Department official told the Associated Press, “As many parts of America experience historic droughts, this commonsense proposal means consumers can purchase showerheads that conserve water and save them money on their utility bills.″

As Reason points out, however, now that Biden “has now proposed to undo this important win for individual liberty,” Americans “could still purchase water-conserving showerheads under the Trump administration’s rule. The Biden administration would just force them to do so.”

So, yes, elections have consequences.
