CLEARWATER, Fla. – A blown tire is the culprit of a massive trailer fire on the Courtney Campbell Causeway Monday.
The trailer was about 20 feet long and was used as a workstation for a seamless gutter installer.
The driver noticed there was a problem and pulled over to the side of the road and was able to detach the trailer from the vehicle towing it.
According to officials, the fire started after a tire blew out on the trailer, causing sparks that ignited the trailer.
Westbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway were shut down for hours in the aftermath of the fire, but have since reopened.
