HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old documented gang member from Brooksville was sentenced to 20 years in prison following a RAP sheet that started at age 12.

“While most 12-year-old boys think about sports, video games, and hanging out with friends, Omarion Nathan was plotting to commit a Burglary,” said Hernando County Sheriff’s PIO Michael Terry.

According to deputies, while investigating a Residential Burglary in 2016, detectives identified Nathan as a suspect. Nathan admitted that he, along with two other juveniles, did commit the crime.

During Nathan’s latest arrest on March 6, 2023, a deputy was at the Freedom Garden Apartments in Brooksville when he observed Nathan riding a bicycle through the parking lot toward Hale Avenue.

The deputy positively identified Nathan due to prior law enforcement encounters and a noticeable birthmark on Nathan’s chin. The deputy noted Nathan attempted to conceal his chin using his shirt as he rode by the deputy.

The deputy said Nathan was currently under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections – Parole and Probation regarding a prior felony conviction.

Upon contacting a representative at Parole and Probation, they advised Nathan was under Community Control, with a stipulation that Nathan was under “house arrest” and ordered to be confined to his home on St. Francis Street in Brooksville.

Later that day, deputies and officers from the Florida Department of Corrections saw Nathan standing in front of a house on Shayne Street in Brooksville. Nathan attempted to pull away from deputies as he was taken into custody. Nathan was then transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he remained incarcerated.

On April 6, 2023, Nathan appeared in circuit court for arraignment for Violation of Probation on charges of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary of a Conveyance.

Due to Nathan’s latest Violation of Probation, Circuit Judge Stephen Toner revoked Nathan’s “Youthful Offender Status” and sentenced Nathan to 20 years in prison for the Robbery with a Deadly Weapon charge and five years for Burglary of a Conveyance charge.

The Judge ordered the two sentences be served concurrently.
