BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office apprehended wanted subject Jeremy Jason Patterson, 23, in a wooded area near the High Point community, off of Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville.
Deputies say Patterson was taken into custody without incident.
Initially, the sheriff’s office said Patterson was a person of interest initially, but he was upgraded to a suspect just before noon Friday.
According to deputies, the incident occurred at approximately 10:16 p.m. on Thursday at the entrance to the High Point community, off of Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville.

Fire Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and determined what was initially thought to be a medical call was a criminal act. Deputies arrived moments later.
The victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital by Fire Rescue, where he died at the hospital a short time later.
