A 22-year-old California man was sentenced to 55 years to life in prison for killing his girlfriend and dismembering her body earlier this year.
Cameron Tyler Wright, 22, of Fresno, was sentenced to a term of 55 years to life for the first-degree murder of his girlfriend, Samantha Sharp.
The Honorable Mark Cullers handed down the sentence in Department 11 of the Fresno Superior Court after Wright entered a guilty plea on May 18, 2023.

According to court records, on January 9, 2023, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by a person saying that Cameron Wright claimed to have killed his girlfriend, dismembered her body, and spread her remains throughout the county.
Sheriff deputies responded to the locations that Wright provided and discovered Ms. Sharp’s remains in an orchard about 2 miles from where deputies contacted Wright.
Shortly after the discovery, Wright was taken into custody and booked into the Fresno County Jail.

According to KFSN-TV, Sharp’s cousin was present during the sentencing and asked Wright, “Did she beg you to stop? Did she cry in agony for her mom? Did she beg you for her life? What were her last words? How long did she suffer?”
According to the outlet, Wright and Sharp share a 7-month-old son, who is now in the custody of Sharp’s family.
