CareerEdge Launches Tuition-Free Auto Electrical Technician FastTrack Program

SARASOTA, Fla. – In a bid to address the growing demand for skilled auto electrical technicians, CareerEdge, the workforce development initiative of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, has teamed up with Suncoast Technical College (STC) and local automotive service providers to offer a tuition-free FastTrack training program.

This innovative program is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to excel in the ever-evolving field of auto electrical systems. The curriculum, a condensed version of STC’s Automotive Electrical/Electronic System Technician program, was developed in collaboration with employers to ensure its relevance to industry needs.

Participants will receive hands-on training in electrical system principles, component identification, wiring, diagnostic tools, battery systems, starting and charging systems, and lighting systems. Upon completion, graduates will earn the prestigious National Coalition of Certifications Centers (NC3) Snap-on Multimeter Certification, enhancing their employability.

The program goes beyond technical skills, incorporating CareerEdge’s renowned Bridges to Careers soft skills and employability training. This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared for the job market, both technically and professionally.

The tuition-free class will commence on July 9, 2024, and run through October 3, with evening sessions held Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm at STC’s main campus. Funding for this valuable program is generously provided by the CareerEdge Funders Collaborative community.

This initiative demonstrates CareerEdge’s commitment to bridging the gap between workforce needs and training opportunities, ultimately benefiting both job seekers and employers in the Sarasota region. For those interested in a rewarding career in the automotive industry, this program offers a fast track to success.

This program is open to the public. Interested individuals must be Sarasota or Manatee County residents and apply by Tuesday, July 2nd, those selected will be notified. 

Eligibility for the program includes having a clean background, agreeing to a background and drug test, a valid and clean driver’s license for the past three years, ability to lift 75 lbs., reliable transportation, and enjoyment of hands-on work.
