With the memories of their homeland where the Chinese Communist Party rules with a hot-iron fist and takes political prisoners, some naturalized Chinese-American patriots contacted Tampa Free Press.

They asked us to please share some information about a Christmas Drive that is supporting the children and families of the January 6 rioters.

The Patriot Mail Project, found at www.patriotmailproject.com is an initiative founded in 2016 by Paula Calloway of King, North Carolina. Its mission is to support people believed to be political prisoners. Since 2021, she and a group of volunteers have been raising funds for the children and families of January 6 rioters through their Christmas drive.

“We are volunteers,” Calloway said. “There’s just a handful of us. Some people decide to donate to help us with postage expenses.”

Throughout the year, the initiative also provides detailed information on its website for fellow patriots who wish to send letters of encouragement and support – or birthday cards – to January 6 rioters incarcerated or under house detention. Donors can select whom they wish to support. Some letter writers send their well wishes directly to the prisons housing the incarcerated, while others send their letters to The Patriot Mail Project for forwarding.

Calloway said Dogwood Disaster Relief, a 501©3, also located in King, allows Patriot Mail Project to run its annual Christmas drive through them. Last year, they raised $55,000 and this year, they project approximately $50,000 has been raised, including through an auction sponsored by the Board of the American Gulag Chronicles, a two-book set subtitled, “The Art of Confinement” and “Letters from Prison.” But more children are affected this year – some 160 – due to continued arrests, incarcerations and house detentions.

All Christmas donations are being accepted until January 1 through a link on the www.patriotmailproject.com website. For every $10 donated, an entry into a raffle will be registered.

Twenty-nine January 6 rioters are incarcerated in Florida.

According to the Pew Research Center, the nation is divided about the extent of punishments meted out to J6 rioters.
