City of Tampa and Parts of Hillsborough County Still Under Water Boil Notice

TAMPA, Fla. – Late yesterday afternoon a large transmission water main coming from the David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility was hit by a third party performing work in the area.

Tampa Water Department says that crews have been working through the night on repairs and that the work is expected to be completed sometime later today.

Residents are advised that the following remains in place:

The precautionary boil water notice remains in effect. This notice applies to the entire service area which includes the City of Tampa as well as parts of unincorporated Hillsborough County. Precautionary boil water notices generally last for at least two days. Water samples have been already taken for water quality analysis.

The citywide notice banning irrigation watering also remains in effect until further notice. Residents are required to shut off all automatic irrigation meters and sprinkler systems to help conserve the City’s available water resources.

More information will be released as soon as its available.
