CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue are on the scene of a crash that has turned into a hazardous materials call.

A single-vehicle crash occurred just before 8:30 this evening in the southbound access lanes of the 20000 block of U.S. 19; that’s in front of Congo River Golf.

A tanker carrying 8,500 gallons of gasoline overturned and is leaking. Hazardous materials crews are on the scene trying to contain and mitigate the spill.

There are no injuries at this time.

The southbound access road south of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard is closed at this time. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes and avoid the area.
