CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police officers nabbed two armed robbery suspects Friday morning just minutes after they robbed a gas station and convenience store.

The crime occurred just after 2 a.m. at On The Fly, located at 3009 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. A white male suspect wearing a white fuzzy mask, hat, and hoodie came into the store and demanded cash. He was holding a knife shaped like a gun.

The first officer on the scene arrived as the getaway vehicle, a red Ford pickup, was leaving. Another officer conducted a traffic stop, and that’s when the passenger bolted from the vehicle.

He was found nearby a short time later, and both suspects were arrested and taken to jail.

Jefferey Brooks, 36, of Largo, was charged with armed robbery and resisting arrest without violence. He was the one who went into the store and committed the robbery.

James Stewart, 33, of Clearwater, the driver, was charged with accessory after the fact to armed robbery and possession of cocaine.
