Dunedin Fire Rescue Saves Family and Pets at Hurricane Pass Tuesday, VIDEO

DUNEDIN, Fla. – At approximately 2:00 PM Tuesday, Dunedin Fire Rescue received a call for a vessel that ran aground in Hurricane Pass, next to Honeymoon Island State Park.

Units responded from Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Sunstar, and the USCG and found that a 45′ cruiser had run aground and was taking on water. Fire crews were able to make access to the boat in high wave conditions and rescue two adults, two dogs, and one cat.

Unfortunately, one cat was deceased after attempts to revive it were unsuccessful.  All involved were safely returned to shore.
