The Federal Bureau of Investigation is re-examining three high-profile and politically sensitive cases from the Biden era, with Deputy Director Dan Bongino signaling that investigators are “closing in on some suspects” in the January 5th pipe bombing and anticipating a “major break” in one of the three primary cases shortly.
Bongino announced the renewed focus Monday via X and elaborated on ‘Fox & Friends’ Thursday, detailing the dedication of additional resources to the 2021 D.C. pipe bombing, the discovery of cocaine at the White House, and the leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.
Bongino, who assumed his role in March 2025 under FBI Director Kash Patel, stated the decision to revisit these investigations—characterized by him as “cases of potential public corruption” that had “garnered public interest”—was made soon after they took office.
“The second we got in, I put a team on [the pipe bombing case], and I said I want answers on this, and I’m pretty confident that we’re, uh, we’re closing in on some suspects,” Bongino asserted, criticizing the previous lack of progress: “Two pipe bombs planted on January 6th… we were told by partisan actors out there this was the Insurrection the world was going to fall apart, and no one seemed to show any interest.”
Regarding the cocaine found in a common area of the White House under Biden, he expressed concern over the initial handling: “I was a Secret Service agent, a potentially hazardous material made its way into the White House. Nobody seems to know how it got there, and nobody seemed to get to investigate it fully. Like, you know, what planet do we live on? Well, that’s not a public interest.”

The Deputy Director confirmed he receives weekly briefings and public tips, highlighting the role of social media in their strategy.
“The reason, by the way, I use social media with these cases… every time I put [something out]… Fascinating tip on one of these cases, one of the three… I’m pretty confident that we’re going to close out one of them, hopefully shortly.”
He later added, regarding an imminent development in one of the three probes, “This morning [received a tip], we’re going to run it out. We’re not going to be able to make that public obviously right away, because we have to make sure… we have to go all the proper steps.”
Bongino also touched on the ongoing internal FBI reforms.
“The Director and I will have most of our incoming reform teams in place by next week,” he noted, aiming to “double down on our reform agenda.” He emphasized a results-oriented approach, stating, “I am not asking anyone to believe me… I don’t want you to trust me… I want all I care about is results.”

Addressing questions about other past high-interest cases, such as an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump and the death of Jeffrey Epstein, Bongino affirmed the FBI’s stance: “People ask me all the time, are these cases closed? And whether they’re closed administratively is irrelevant. If new tips come in, we’re absolutely going to follow them.”
Specifically on Epstein’s death, Bongino offered some clarity: “There is video… not the actual act, but… the entire MCC Bay… There’s video that when you look at the video, and we will release… There’s no one there but him… There’s no DNA. There’s no audio. There’s no fingerprints. There’s no suspects, there’s no accomplices. There’s no tips. There is nothing. If you have it, I’m happy to see it.”
