Fire That Started In Garage Destroys Entire Spring Hill Home

SPRING HILL, FL. – At 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) responded to a reported residential fire in 11,000 block of Norvell Rd. in Spring Hill.

The call came from the only occupant of the home who reported her vehicle was on fire in the garage.

Authorities say she promptly exited the structure prior to the arrival of the fire department.

HCFES arrived within 4 minutes and reported heavy smoke and fire from the garage, spreading into the attic due to the higher-than-normal wind.

The crews advanced several hose streams and extinguished the fire within 45 minutes.

The fire caused extensive damage to the home resulting in a total loss. The cause is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshall’s Office. The homeowner will be assisted by the Red Cross.

HCFES responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ALS medic units, 1 Squad, 1 Air Truck, 2 Battalion Chiefs, and Fire Corps, for a total of 19 personnel.
