Firefighters Extinguish A Scrap Metal Fire Near Tampa International Airport

TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the 6000 block of Benjamin Rd, near Tampa International Airport at approximately 1:10pm on Monday.

A column of black smoke was visible north of the Airport.

Engine 20 was first on the scene, arriving at a fire involving various scrap metals. Due to the large amounts of materials, firefighters used an elevated stream to extinguish the fire, which was under control within 15 minutes.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
