Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday called for states to be “more aggressive” in immigration enforcement, as California officials continued investigating potential criminal wrongdoing after Florida directed flights of migrants from Texas to Sacramento.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday issued a four-word promise to news that a Texas developer was creating a massive haven to house illegal immigrants:

“I will end this.”

The Republican governor and presidential candidate posted that on X (formerly Twitter) after The Daily Wire reported on Colony Ridge, a subdivision north of Houston that is roughly twice the size of Washington, D.C.

The community now has between 50,000 and 75,000 residents, Daily Wire reported, and is rapidly growing because of a marketing pitch targeting Hispanics, who in this case seem to be predominantly illegal immigrants and perhaps Mexican drug cartels.

As the outlet reported, the bulk of the community seemed to be covered by “half-built homes, dilapidated trailers, and heaps of trash,” while “many structures, some of which are not hooked up to running water, were under construction, while others were unfinished but didn’t appear to be actively getting worked on.”

“At least one plot of land didn’t have any structures at all, just a tent in the corner,” the Daily Wire added.

And all throughout, “Houses … fly the flags of foreign countries.”

“But despite what appears to be poor living conditions throughout much of the development, Colony Ridge is exploding,” the report continued.

“The view from the sky revealed a sprawling labyrinth of roundabouts and endless rows of sidewalkless streets, with empty plots waiting to be developed. The edges of the property are dotted with construction vehicles, each one tasked with cutting and clearing the surrounding forest to make way for yet more growth.”

“Colony Ridge, owned and operated by developer William ‘Trey’ Harris, is rapidly expanding, at least in part due to a financing arrangement that makes it possible for illegal aliens to buy land deep in the heart of Texas,” the Daily Wire reported.

That financing comes from Harris instead of traditional lenders. That allows both buyer and lender to skirt past the traditional requirements of mortgage financing, such as showing proof oif citizenship and income.

One of Harris’ ads tells prospective buyers: “Still renting? Own land in the United States!”

One observer told the Daily Wire that Colony Ridge is perhaps experiencing its “greatest boom ever” because of the massive influx of illegal immigrants to enter Texas since President Joe Biden took office in 2021.

In an interview with another publication, Harris denied any wrongdoing, and noted it’s not illegal to sell land to foreigners.

The Daily Wire reported that Harris “allows purchasers to use individual taxpayer identification numbers rather than Social Security numbers on applications — an option that has been highlighted by pro-illegal immigration groups as a way for migrants to get a foothold in the United States.”

The outlet also noted that many Republican officials, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, have taken campaign contributions from Harris — a move that seems to undermine their calls to be tough on border security.

In response to all this, Gov. DeSantis argued that enough was enough.

“How have we gotten to a point in this country where we are permitting and facilitating sprawling developments to house thousands of illegal immigrants who have broken our nation’s laws?” DeSantis said on X.

“Weak, spineless leaders. Our national sovereignty is at stake. We must stop excusing inaction at the top. I will end this.”
