Florida Governor Ron DeSantis updated the state response efforts to the Gulf Low weather event that impacted the Big Bend and Nature Coast over the weekend.
In anticipation of the storm, Governor Ron DeSantis activated the Florida State Guard and directed all state agencies to prepare resources to provide immediate response and recovery resources.
As of 4:00 p.m., over 100,000 utility accounts have been restored with power, and the State Emergency Response Team stands ready to provide resources, upon request from impacted counties.

Over the weekend, a strong wintertime Gulf Low developed over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and advanced toward the Florida Big Bend and Nature Coast bringing widespread coastal/tidal flooding, beach erosion, heavy rainfall, and strong winds nearly statewide.
Over the course of the storm, 2-5” of rainfall fell across portions of North and Central Florida, from the eastern Florida Panhandle through the I-4 corridor, as well as along the Florida East Coast and Keys.
The heaviest swath of rainfall occurred over the Suwannee River Valley/Northeast Florida and central portions of the Space Coast (Brevard County into southeastern Orange County), where 4-8” of rainfall was observed over the past 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall has triggered a riverine response for several North Florida rivers, with River Flood Warnings remaining in effect for the Aucilla, St. Mary’s, St. Johns, Econfina, and Santa Fe Rivers.
