Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Friday that President Joe Biden’s latest request for aid for both Ukraine and Israel reveals that he has no “strategic vision” for American foreign policy.

On Thursday night, Biden pitched a plan to spend $105 billion on military and humanitarian aid to various global hot spots in an Oval Office address.

The bulk of that $61 billion would go to Ukraine. That’s more than four times what Biden proposed to spend to beef up security of America’s own southern border and to provide to Israel in its war with the terrorist group Hamas.

If approved, U.S. taxpayers will have pumped more than $170 billion into helping Ukraine against Russia.

DeSantis, during an interview Friday with Newsmax, noted that Biden’s speech was notable for its glaring deficiencies.

For instance, the Republican governor noted that Biden failed to mention the threat posed by China, he also failed to discuss the internal risk we face because of his open-borders policy, and he tried to link Ukraine and Israel as similar situations when they are “different problems that require different approaches.”

“There is just a lack of overall strategic vision for what we’re trying to do as Americans,” DeSantis said of Biden’s speech. “I think he missed the mark yet again.”

“Ultimately,” he added, “we need leadership.”

As another example of Biden’s “fecklessness,” DeSantis pointed out that Biden’s proposal includes $100 million to the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by the Palestinian terrorists running Hamas.

“That money will be commandeered by the Hamas terrorists,” DeSantis told Newsmax. “We know they run the show down there. So why would you want to be funding both sides of the conflict? He needs to let Israel do the job. Let them annihilate Hamas, and that’s gotta be the first order of business. I don’t think you can play both sides of this. It just isn’t going to work.”

DeSantis said Biden’s short-sightedness is aiding America’s primary global rival.

“I think that China is really benefiting from what’s going on in the world today,” said DeSantis. “Biden is not fixated on China. In fact, he doesn’t even view China as a serious threat. He thinks that this is kind of a friendly competition. That’s not the case.”

“The only real global threat that is a peer competitor to us is China, and I think Biden’s really helped China continue to move forward and challenge us.”

DeSantis added that it all comes back to leadership, which Biden is failing to show.

“Get your cards in order and start getting the job done,” he added. “We have a lack of leadership in this country.”
