A Florida man and woman have been arrested after the theft of over $10,000 worth of lawn care equipment from a business’s trailer.

A Florida man and woman have been arrested after the theft of over $10,000 worth of lawn care equipment from a business’s trailer.

Investigators say on June 16th around 7:30 am, DeLand Police Department units responded to 710 East Voorhis Avenue in reference to a burglarized trailer.

Detectives obtained video surveillance that showed the trailer being burglarized around 4:30 am that morning.

Detectives later received information that a male, Ian Way, and a female, Destiny Thacker, had attempted to sell items matching the description of what was stolen to a lawn care business in Orange City.

Detectives were able to recover approximately $9,500 worth of the equipment. Through collaborative efforts between DPD and Orange City Police Department, both subjects were arrested.

Ian Way, 31, has been charged with the following and is being held with no bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail:

  • Violation of Probation/Community Control – Felony x 23
  • Grand Theft ($10,000 – < $20,000)
  • Dealing in Stolen Property
  • Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure

Destiny Thacker, 27, has been arrested for Dealing in Stolen Property. She is being held at VCBJ with a $5,000 bond.
