Florida Man Arrested After Slapping An Elderly Salvation Army Bell Ringer In The Head

It’s Christmas time Florida man, give it a rest or get arrested. This joker opted for the latter.

A 30-year-old Florida man has been arrested for battery and criminal mischief after slapping a Salvation Army Bell Ringer, and another elderly person, in the head for no apparent reason.

According to Lee County Sheriff, at approximately 4:00 PM on Monday, deputies responded to the area of College Parkway and South Point Boulevard in reference to an individual who battered two victims and vandalized a car.

Deputies learned the victims, one of which was a Salvation Army bell ringer, were blindsided and slapped on the side of the head by an unknown black male, who was later identified as 30-year-old Jackson Avilmar.

According to deputies, after slapping the older folks, Avilmar vandalized a car at a RaceTrac gas station before they caught up with him.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the teamwork shown by our deputies, detectives, aviation, and K9 Unit on this case,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I am thankful the innocent victims were not seriously injured; however, this behavior is absolutely unacceptable and will NOT be tolerated in Lee County.”

Deputies located Avilmar, and took him into custody without incident.

He was charged with two counts of Battery on a Person 65 Years or Older, and Criminal Mischief.
