A 64-year-old Florida man was arrested Thursday for striking and injuring a 78-year-old man with a 2×4.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Luis Ancieto Herrada was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and elderly abuse.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to 20th Street at approximately 7 p.m., where multiple witnesses said that Herrada struck the man with the 2×4 multiple times for unknown reasons.

The victim was taken to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon, where he was treated and released.
Luis Herrada was booked in Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on a $50,000 bond.
