A 29-year-old Florida man was sentenced to 12 years in prison after a 2020 shooting and pursuit, that ended with him hiding a kilo of cocaine in the bathroom of a restaurant.

A 29-year-old Florida man was sentenced to 12 years in prison after a 2020 shooting and pursuit, that ended with him hiding a kilo of cocaine in the bathroom of a restaurant.

Deputies say on December 26, 2020, Corey Beckers, 29, was involved in a shooting with another vehicle off of Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers.

Investigators say that Beckers then crashed on the side of the road, with several bullet holes throughout his car.

Immediately after he crashed, Beckers ran to a nearby restaurant. He went into the bathroom and hid a kilogram of cocaine in a trash can.

Beckers then ran back to his car and retrieved a firearm. Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene and took Beckers into custody.

On February 28th, Corey Beckers was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation for Trafficking in Cocaine and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

“Drug dealers have no place in paradise,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno, “My deputies and partners at the State Attorney’s Office work hard every day to keep Lee County safe.”
