A 43-year-old Florida man has pleaded guilty to transmitting an interstate threat to kill a United States Supreme Court Justice.
Neal Brij Sidhwaney, 43, Fernandina Beach, faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
According to court documents, on July 31, 2023, Sidhwaney placed a phone call from Florida to the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C., and left an expletive-laden, threatening voicemail message to Chief Justice Roberts.

On the voicemail message, Sidhwaney identified himself by name and repeatedly threatened to kill Chief Justice Roberts, saying “I will f***ing kill you,”
Sidhwaney is “suffering from a severe mental disease or defect, namely delusional disorder with psychosis,” according to the psychological evaluation. Nevertheless, he is “relatively stable” on the medication he is taking and “very intelligent,” meeting the “minimal standards for competency to proceed,” the doctor told the court in September.
This case was investigated by the Supreme Court of the United States Police – Protective Intelligence Unit with assistance from the United States Capitol Police –Threat Assessment Section.
It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kirwinn Mike and Special Assistant United States Attorney Joe Wheeler, III.
