A Florida man was arrested after deputies discovered a large quantity of crack cocaine and trafficking amounts of fentanyl and heroin following a vehicle pursuit.
“Holley Delton Jones, 46, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, is charged with 15 felonies, most of them narcotics related. At the time of his arrest Jones was on parole for trafficking ecstasy,” said Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, Jones was driving a bronze GMC Yukon on Wiggins Pass Road near U.S. 41 N. around midnight when deputies tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
Jones decided to accelerate and drove recklessly through traffic and a convenience store parking lot in an effort to elude deputies, according to investigators.
A deputy maneuvered his patrol vehicle against the Yukon, bringing it to a stop, and Jones was taken into custody.
The man was wearing white latex gloves and had $572 cash on him, according to the arrest report.
Arrest records show Jones was sentenced to five years in prison for trafficking in ecstasy stemming from a 2009 arrest in Collier County.
“This was outstanding work by our deputies and Vice and Narcotics Bureau detectives,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “Thanks to them, a dangerous poison peddler is back behind bars and these drugs won’t ever make it onto the streets of Collier County.”
