A guest corrected CNN host Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday for taking former President Donald Trump’s comments against illegal immigration out of context, and Florida Rep. Byron Donalds blasted the media.

“FAKE NEWS ALERT. Last night, Democrats & media tried to dupe the American people AGAIN. Trump called Laken Riley’s barbaric killer & other illegal alien murderers like him “animals,” so Democrats deceptively instigated another incendiary hoax. They have NOTHING to run on, so they lie. This reeks of DESPERATION,” said Donalds.

Trump referred to the alleged murderer of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley as an “animal” during a campaign speech in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

On Tuesday. Blitzer, quoting a Biden campaign X post, claimed Trump referred to immigrants as “animals” on “CNN Newsroom with Wolf Blitzer,” but Republican strategist Scott Jennings corrected him on the air.

“I listened to the entire tape,” Jennings told Blitzer. “He was specifically talking about the person who murdered Laken Riley in Georgia, and to be honest with you, Wolf, if somebody murders another human being, I think they deserve to be called animals, and I don‘t think any American is really going to reject that kind of rhetoric.”

“That poor girl was murdered in cold blood,” Jennings added.

Riley’s suspected killer, Jose Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan immigrant who illegally crossed the US-Mexico border, was apprehended by University of Georgia police on February 23 and charged with murdering the 22-year-old nursing student.

“The 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia who was barbarously murdered by an illegal alien animal. The Democrats say ‘please don’t call them animals. They’re humans.’ I said no, they’re not humans. They’re animals,” Trump said during the Tuesday campaign appearance.

The Biden-Harris HQ account shared a video of Trump speaking at the Michigan event, but removed important context to make it appear like Trump was discussing illegal immigrants in general.

“You think he was only referring to those murderers, not referring in general to illegal immigrants who are coming into the United States?” Blitzer asked.

“I listened to the tape,” Jennings responded. “That‘s exactly what he was talking about.”
