On Monday, jurors found Antonio Williams, 28, guilty of Malice Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony in the stabbing death of his mom on March 5, 2020.

According to the investigation, officers from the DeKalb County Police Department (DKPD) responded to a “person down” call at a residence on White Oak Loop in Lithonia, Georgia.

Upon arrival, officers found Williams sitting in front of the garage.

The Defendant informed officers that he had been released from Grady Memorial Hospital and returned home to discover his mother unresponsive.

Police say he had gone to a neighbor’s house to call 911, explaining that he needed assistance because his mother had fainted.

Terri (Shay) Alexander, 49, was discovered on the garage floor with a sheet over her body. She had numerous stab wounds and felt cold to the touch, according to DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston.

Firewood, lighter fluid, and charcoal were discovered near the victim and in a car parked in the garage, and there was a burn hole in the sheet that covered the victim.

Officers discovered dried blood throughout the house, including a bloody chef’s knife in the victim’s bedroom, as well as additional dried blood, bloody towels, black trash bags, and empty bleach bottles. Bloody shoes were discovered in Williams’ bathroom, along with a bathtub full of water.

Further investigation revealed that on February 25, 2020, DKPD’s Mobile Crisis Unit responded to the scene where Williams and his mother were arguing about him not cleaning the bathroom.

Williams was admitted to Grady’s mental health unit after it was discovered that he was not taking his medications as prescribed.

According to records, Williams was released from the hospital on the morning of March 4, 2020.

The victim’s phone shows that she went to Grady on March 4 after receiving several calls from the hospital. The phone records show the woman then went to the store before returning home.

The phone was not unlocked again after 2:07 p.m. on March 4.

DeKalb County Judge Winston Bethel, who presided over the trial, will schedule Williams’ sentencing hearing in the coming weeks.
