Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is fighting back against a Biden administration plan to persuade parents that children need the COVID-19 vaccine.

During a floor speech on Tuesday night, the Georgia Republican introduced a measure to block all funding for promotion, implementation, or enforcement efforts of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to include the vax to the schedule of vaccines for young children and adolescents.

The CDC recommended last year that children as young as 6 months get the vaccine. The agency implemented a plan to promote the policy earlier in 2023.

In her speech, Greene said the CDC’s idea was “in direct contradiction to the science.”

“All studies show that young children were far less likely to be infected or hospitalized by COVID,” said Greene. She cited the CDC’s own data that revealed children were just 0.01% of COVID-related hospitalizations and only 0.0005% of deaths.

“Why would the CDC implement such a recommendation to knowingly inject an experimental shot, especially one that is not fully FDA-approved, into kids who have an almost 0% chance of dying from COVID?” she said.

Now, she added, Americans can see the side effects of the “unapproved, experimental” vaccine are causing “detrimental” and “irreversible” injuries to children.

Greene then gave examples of children who she said had been adversely affected by the vaccines, and of adults who questioned their efficacy being shut down on social media.

The congresswoman added that the CDC does not have the authority to mandate the inclusion of the COVID-19 vaccine in the national children’s immunization plan.

Yet, she said, the CDC’s word is “the foundation for all the vaccine mandates for kids in schools, daycares, sports leagues, and extracurriculars.”

Greene concluded that her bill would “protect children from the experimental shot by blocking the implementation of the baseless CDC recommendation.”
